A socialist revolution is an uprising of the proletariat — the working class, those who do not own the property necessary to run a business but must instead work for someone else. A socialist revolution is an awakening that causes the mass of workers to resist their oppression.

In order. Workers' control and centralization in the Russian Revolution. Pittsburgh, PA (4E23 Forbes Quadrangle, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh ): Russian and East European Studies Program, University of Pittsburgh, (OCoLC) Document Type: Book: All Authors / Contributors: William Husband.

A work I found particularly helpful in the ‘70s was Maurice Brinton’s The Bolsheviks and Workers Control. This clear-headed and well-researched little book was an indispensable source of arguments to explode the myth of the Bolshevik party building “proletarian power” in Russia.

The Russian factory committees’ breadth and ingenuity, their ability to draw wide numbers of unaffiliated workers into the practical work of maintaining production, and their flexibility in growing with the revolution into organs of self-management are a high standard for struggling workers.

Decentralization or decentralisation (see spelling differences) is the process by which the activities of an organization, particularly those regarding planning and decision making, are distributed or delegated away from a central, authoritative location or group.

Concepts of decentralization have been applied to group dynamics and management science in private businesses and organizations. The Russian Revolution of was a major factor contributing to the cause of the Revolutions of The events of Bloody Sunday triggered nationwide protests and soldier mutinies.

A council of workers called the St. Petersburg Soviet was created in this chaos. While the Revolution was ultimately crushed, and the leaders of the St. Petersburg Soviet were arrested, this laid the. Democratic centralism is a practice in which political decisions reached by voting processes are binding upon all members of the political gh mainly associated with Leninism, wherein the party's political vanguard composed of professional revolutionaries practised democratic centralism to elect leaders and officers as well as to determine policy through free discussion, then.

THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION of February and October opened up a new historical epoch, and was greeted with enthusiasm by workers around the world. Never before had workers come close to winning power, though many participated in political life in the Social Democratic parties of Western Europe.

WORKERS’ CONTROL IN THE REVOLUTION. The October Revolution triumphed by inscribing on its banner this watchword: “Peace, land and workers’ control!” But we must always bear in mind that during the first day that followed the October Revolution.

workers’ control implied only a LIMITATION of the private property and not its ABOLITION. Overall, this book is a detailed and compelling telling of the Russian Revolution. Although, its length will give some readers pause (rightly so), taking the plunge with this book will reward the reader interested in the Russian s:   THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION A New History By Sean McMeekin Basic Books.

In doing so not only does it demolish the romantic Leninist 'history' of the relationship between the working class and their party during these years ( - 21) but it also provides a backbone to understanding why the Russian revolution failed in the way it did.

Abstract. The capitalist press has diligently spread abroad all sorts of stories about the foolish conduct of the Russian industrial workers during the Revolution; of their extravagant demands, their ignorance, and the brutality with which they have treated manufacturers and technical experts.

Stephen Cohen’s wonderful book Bukharin and the Bolshevik Revolution (originally published in ) tells the story of the Russian Revolution and the Soviet experience through the eyes of one of its main architects, who was later a tragic casualty of the betrayal of the revolutionary ideas.

I am extremely partial to this because Bukharin wrote seriously about the economics of communism. The Russian revolution of was a defining event of the twentieth century, and its achievements and failures remain controversial in the twenty-first.

This book focuses on the retreat from the revolution’s aims in –24, after the civil war and at the start of the New Economic Policy – and specifically, on the turbulent relationship.

A workers' council is a deliberative assembly, composed of working class members, intended to institute workers' self-management or workers' control. Unlike a trade union, in a workers' council the workers are assumed to be in actual control of the workplace, rather than merely negotiating with employers through collective bargaining.
